Evening event with journalists of the Italian leftist daily newspaper "Il Manifesto" on the situtation of the left Italian Press.

Il Manifesto is the most important leftists’ Italian newspaper and has provided an alternative voice in the Italian press scene throughout the last 40 years. His independence is granted by its cooperative organization, as the newspaper is directly managed by journalists and technical staffs on equal step in the cooperative. In Italy, the freedom of the press is at risk and constantly endangered by the current government policies. Recent Berlusconi government‘s cuts to the press sector are seriously threatening the survival of il Manifesto.

The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Brussels Office is co-organising, toghter with Sinistra, Ecologia e Libertá Belgio e Fabbriche di Nichi Bruxelles, an open discussion with Angela Pascucci (editor of Il Manifesto) e Angelo Mastrandrea (vice-director of il Manifesto) for discussing the current situation of the Manifesto and press in Italy.
